Our Values and Virtues
Our Mission Statement
Our Mission Statement, 'With God, all things are possible!' underpins our ethos and mission as a Catholic school.
Our Catholic Values and Virtues
Each term, we focus on two of the Birmingham Diocesan Catholic Pupil Profile 'Values and Virtues', which help to teach our children the importance of living as good Christian followers today. Through these virtues and values, we are encouraging children to demonstrate their faith in their actions to others, bringing joy, positivity and hope to all they encounter.
The Values and Virtues focus for each half term during the academic year 2024 - 2025 will be:
Autumn 1: Curious and Active
Our children are growing to be curious about everything; and active in their engagement with the world, changing what they can for the better. They learn to be curious about the universe and all human activity, and to take increasing responsibility for their own learning, and by providing opportunities for them to be active in the life of the school, the Church and the wider community.
Autumn 2: Intentional and Prophetic
Children learn to be intentional in the way they live and use the resources of the earth, guided by conscience; and prophetic in the example they set to others. We teach children to think critically and carefully and to make wise choices to live a life as God intended. We are prophetic when we use our words (and actions) to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ.
Spring 1: Grateful and Generous
Pupils are growing to be grateful for their own gifts, for the gift of other people, and for the blessings of each day; and generous with their gifts, becoming men and women for others.
Spring 2: Attentive and Discerning
Pupils are growing to be attentive to the word of God and to the world around them, to their experience and to their vocation. Children are discerning about the choices they make and the effects of those choices on both themselves and others.
Summer 1: Compassionate and Loving
Pupils are growing to be compassionate towards others, near and far, especially the less fortunate; and loving by their just actions and forgiving words. We aim to open the eyes of our children to those who suffer poverty, injustice or violence in their class, their family, our school and the wider community and to give them the skills to help where they can.
Summer 2: Faith Filled and Hopeful
Pupils are growing to be Faith-filled in their beliefs and hopeful for the future. This is especially important as we approach the Jubliee Year and prepare to be Pilgrims of Hope. We encourage our children to have faith and hope in themselves and others.
One child from each class who demonstrates the virtues is chosen to receive our Values and Virtues certificate in our weekly Success Assembly.
