Prayer Life

Our Catholic Life Leaders 2024 - 2025 wrote a new school prayer inspired by our mission statement, "With God, all things are possible."  We say this prayer often in our school because it reminds us that we strive to achieve the very best that we can, with the help of God.

Our Catholic Life Leaders 2024 - 2025 have written a new prayer for our weekly Success Assembly.  This prayer summarises our weekly celebration of all that we have achieved, using the gifts and talents which God gave to us.

For further information about Collective Worship and Prayer Life at St Joseph's, please see our Collective Worship and Prayer Policy.

To help our children to develop their knowledge of a wide variety of Catholic prayers, we have a focused 'Prayer of the Month' which is said daily in class.

Prayer is central to the life of our school and there are many opportunities for children to pray together frequently throughout the school day. There are 4 set prayer times in which all classes pray together: during morning gathering, grace before and after lunch and at home-time. In addition to this, children use the daily reflections from the Ten:Ten resources and pray during RE lessons and collective worship using a variety of prayer approaches, such as open prayer, choral prayer, guided meditation, etc to further develop their personal relationship with God.

Throughout the months of October and May, a Rosary prayer group takes places every lunchtime for Key Stage 2. This is led by our Year 6 Catholic Life Leaders and Mini-Vinnies.

During Lent and Advent, liturgies take place during the school day. These liturgies are written and led by pupils with support from school staff.

Children are also encouraged to pray in the school prayer garden, which is centrally positioned for easy access to all members of the school community.
