Catholic Life

"With God, all things are possible!"

                                                                               (Matthew 19:26)

At St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, children learn that they must put their relationship with God at the forefront.  It is by knowing, loving and trusting in God that children will be able to achieve their God given potential.  We are committed to nurturing our children to be their very best self so that they can live their best life.  Children are taught and enabled to spend time with God in prayer and to trust in Him so that achievements which seem impossible, become possible.

Our mission statement - ‘With God, all things are possible’ – captures our desire to follow the example of Christ in welcoming, nurturing and developing the individual child as a unique and precious gift, capable of achieving well.  We promote the Christian values of love, respect, tolerance and forgiveness, as revealed to us through the life of Jesus Christ.

"Growing Together for Life"

St Joseph's is proud to be a part of the Newman Catholic Collegiate, working in partnership with other Catholic primary schools and our Catholic High School, Saint Margaret Ward under the patronage of St. John Henry Newman.  The Newman priority is to help students to know Jesus Christ, his mission and his Gospel, which forms our way of living.  We commit to work together so that each academy, respecting its own unique character, will offer outstanding Catholic education.

Our shared vision of life respects the uniqueness of all students, supporting their families, engaging them in their communities, and offering them unconditional love, so that they may achieve their potential and live life in its fullness.

To achieve this, across our academies, we will know one another, offering each other encouragement and active support.

Our vision for the Collegiate is summed up in the words

"GROWING TOGETHER FOR LIFE"

Our Aims:

The community of St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy aims to serve as a witness to Our Lord Jesus Christ and to the Catholic faith at all times.

We believe that parents are the first and foremost educators of their children and that we are called to support them in their God-given task. Each child in our school is valued and encouraged to achieve human wholeness – spiritually, morally, emotionally and academically- in a happy, secure Christian environment. We aim to provide the best possible education for each child and a happy working environment for each staff member.

We will endeavour to sustain and develop a Christian community where:

  • We value and cultivate the Catholic ethos and education, living the Mission Statement whilst nurturing the spirituality of each child.
  • Pupils are supported and guided spiritually and morally, and learn how to make good, effective choices in their learning and in their relationships with others. This is evidenced in our policies and procedures, by our behaviour and, most importantly, through our actions.
  • Each child is valued and respected, and is encouraged to be sensitive to and respect the needs of others.
  • All talents are recognised and every child is actively encouraged to achieve their potential.
  • Everyone feels valued and secure, thus promoting a sense of well-being, confidence and high self-esteem. Pupils are given a voice, helping them to develop into confident individuals who understand how to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives.
  • Pupils are prepared for their future as active, responsible citizens who are able to make a positive contribution to the community and towards the wider society.
  • There is a broad and balanced curriculum, with a focus on open-ended learning. Extra-curricular opportunities are offered to develop a variety of interests.
  • There is a stimulating, safe, clean and happy working and learning environment.
  • Links between school and parish are strong and sustained, along with those to the local and global communities.
  • Staff, parents, teachers and governors work effectively together for the progression and development of the school
