PSHE

At St Josephs’, we want our children to grow into confident, well rounded individuals who are equipped not only for the world they live in now but for their future world.  Our mission statement, “With God, all things are possible!” embodies our drive for each and every one of our children to be the very best that they can be in all aspects of their life.  As a Catholic school, we are proud that our PSHE curriculum is rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, enabling children to see when action is needed and take it for the good of others.

We believe that in today’s ever-evolving world, equipping children with essential life skills is more critical than ever. Our comprehensive approach to Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHE), is designed to foster a strong sense of self and belonging and community within schools, promoting a culture of well-being and inclusivity.  Our core values of aspiration, resilience, compassion and opportunity are taught through our PSHE curriculum as well as through every day school life.

Our PSHE curriculum is structured and progressive and prioritises emotional literacy, resilience, and social skills.  PSHE prepares students not only for academic success but also for a fulfilling and responsible life as engaged citizens. Children are given planned as well as incidental opportunities to see the world from different perspective and understand their place within the community through whole-school assemblies, group discussions, independent work, and team effort both in and beyond the classroom.  Celebrations of the children’s achievements further enrich this experience, encouraging students to recognize and celebrate their achievements and the achievements of their peers, reinforcing a sense of community and leading to a healthy and harmonious school environment in which all children can flourish and achieve their very best today and be prepared for the next stages of their life.
